Dealer Showcase: Creative Solutions for Bath Spaces

Rise Above Remodeling has been serving customers in the Phoenix metropolitan area for nearly 20 years. “People come here from all over the country, and they often bring us design inspiration,” said Skyler Buckner, co-owner of Rise Above Remodeling. “We encourage clients to bring in photos of what they have in mind, and we talk to them about what is involved, including cost and timelines, to build the design they want.”

A wet-room-inspired bath design features a freestanding soaking tub wrapped in dramatic marble-inspired tile, creating a fully waterproofed wet space aesthetic.

These conversations are key to aligning expectations for a project. “We recently had a homeowner interested in renovating the primary bath into a wet room,” said Buckner. A wet room is a bathroom with a fully waterproofed, curbless shower area that is level with the rest of the floor, often with a slight slope leading to a single drain. The entire room’s floors, walls, and sometimes even the ceiling are sealed to be watertight. “As we talked through the details of the project, it became clear that creating a true wet room wasn’t going to be feasible. Instead, we came up with a variation on the wet room design that created a wet space by partitioning the bath and shower behind glass to contain splashes.”

Matte black Sullivan pulls from Jeffrey Alexander, coordinating with black mirrors, lighting, and shower hardware to create a striking contrast against white cabinetry and marble-inspired tile.

To create visual flow throughout the renovated bath space, the design team paired white cabinetry with beautifully veined white marble-inspired tile and stunning matte black accents, including Sullivan pulls from Jeffrey Alexander. The simple yet striking look of the Sullivan pulls coordinated seamlessly with the black accents on the light fixtures, mirrors, and door hardware to create a subtle yet dramatic effect.

“We have a Jeffrey Alexander display tower in our showroom. It really helps for clients to see and feel the product when choosing decorative hardware,” said Buckner. “Cabinet pulls are a feature that the client will use every day, so the feel is important. Another thing is the lifetime warranty—that is also important to our clients because it indicates the quality of the products.”
