Deeper, darker colors for kitchens will reign supreme this year, says HouseBeautiful.
And by deep and dark, they mean black. Jet black. Coal black. Inky black. Why? Black is dramatic. Black is dynamic. Black can be dazzling, too—even when it’s limited to accent features, including countertops, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, or cabinetry hardware. (After all, not everyone’s ready to sign off on a black-tile wall or perimeter cabinets dressed in glossy black paint.)
So if the new or existing kitchen just needs a bit of drama, rock that trend for deep, dark colors by adding black accents. Take this kitchen by interior designer, Lauren Smyth, for example. Its classic white Shaker-style cabinets get a fashion-forward boost with matte black hardware. From Hardware Resources’ Jeffrey Alexander Lyon Collection, these knobs and cup pulls in a Matte Black finish offer stylish contrast against the white backdrop, tied in with the black countertops for a stunning result.

The repetition of matte black knobs and cup pulls carries the eye throughout the kitchen Smyth furnished with white Shaker-style cabinets and white-tile backsplashes. Dramatic black countertops clad the island and perimeter cabinets and she also used black for display shelves in the niche between the refrigerator and wall ovens. Hardwood flooring helps warm up the look.
Another way to jazz up a kitchen without doing a gut remodel is to bring in an island with a contrasting finish. Did you guess we would suggest black?

Black is always in style, classic and striking, it provides a little touch of contrast and sophistication to a space without a lot of difficulty. I’m in love with matte black finishes, especially on cabinet hardware and plumbing fixtures.

I get asked about trends and @HardwareResources is giving a great example of how black is one of THE biggest trends in interiors as noted in this article in @HouseBeautiful.
